Megan is a former Division I soccer athlete, avid fan, parent of two youth soccer players, and a West Sound Soccer Academy coach. She has 25 years of experience in the financial industry, 20 of which have included managing teams of individuals and mentoring associates. She played soccer at Gonzaga University and her coaching experience includes coaching and directing youth soccer camps.

What is your biggest wish for West Sound Soccer Academy?

“It is an honor to be part of West Sound Soccer Academy and I am looking forward to helping build out a legacy for girls’ soccer.  West Sound Soccer Academy offers a great opportunity to create a safe and fun environment for coaches, girls and young women. Based on research and speaking from personal experience, being part of a team as a young person helps develop confidence, teamwork and discipline, all of which are great life-long attributes.” — Megan

Abby has close to 30 years of Human Resources experience at large companies such as Nike and Amazon. As a kid, she spent two months each summer at an all-girls camp in Maine where she developed a love for sport, including soccer. This carried on during her tenure at Nike where she learned about the impact that girls’ empowerment through sport can have on society. By focusing on uplifting girls, all kids benefit. Abby brings her passion for girls’ sport and knowledge of HR and organizational culture to West Sound Soccer Academy.

What is your biggest wish for West Sound Soccer Academy?

“My wish for West Sound Soccer Academy is that we equip our players with skills to be excellent athletes, supportive teammates, and confident leaders.” — Abby

Adam grew up on Bainbridge Island playing youth soccer, as well as for Bainbridge High School. He attended the University of Washington for his bachelor’s degree and the London School of Economics for his MSc. While working full-time, he completed a Juris Doctor at Seattle University at night. Adam has worked in commercial real estate in the Puget Sound for since 2007. In addition to coaching his kids teams, he enjoys attending Sounders and Reign games.

What is your biggest wish for West Sound Soccer Academy?

“My goal is to ensure West Sound Soccer Academy is a healthy and viable soccer program into the future, passing along core values to generations of girls.” – Adam

Rachel is a co-founder of West Sound Soccer Academy, played soccer at Union College in New York, began coaching girls soccer teams in 2020, and is currently a West Sound Soccer Academy coach. Sports were a critical part of her identity and confidence as a young girl and she believes strongly in the power of sport to help girls move through the often turbulent teenage years with higher self-esteem and decreased anxiety. She is the Director of Communications & Marketing at IslandWood.

What is your biggest wish for West Sound Soccer Academy?

“I hope that as we grow, we continue to attract and keep more girls playing soccer from all over the region. I believe that sports provide such a powerful opportunity for girls to build confidence, mental and physical strength, resilience, and a sense of belonging and I want as many girls to experience that as possible!” — Rachel

Amy had her first experience coaching soccer in high school, working with a team of children with special needs. She returned to coaching in 2019 with youth girls soccer teams. She is a co-founder of West Sound Soccer Academy and is currently the North America Regional Operations Head for Merck.

What is your biggest wish for West Sound Soccer Academy?

“I am passionate about ensuring that girl athletes have an equitable, supportive, and safe space to learn. A place to learn not just the game of soccer, but also what it means to be a teammate and a leader, and how to leverage their athletic experiences and lessons in other areas of their lives as they grow. I’m excited that the vision of this organization also includes nurturing and increasing the leadership and representation of women coaches in our community.” — Amy

Kristin is a firm believer in the value of team sports and along with her husband, Zach, has passed that along to her two daughters. She currently works as a lawyer for a multi-billion dollar logistics company managing a team of several legal professionals. She was previously a member of the Bainbridge Island Girls Lacrosse Association Board and volunteers whenever she can for her daughter’s sports teams and other activities. 

Shane Miramontez

A life long sports enthusiast, Shane has been playing soccer since age five. Also a West Sound Academy coach, she loves creating a positive, fun, and supportive environment where kids can grow both as players and as teammates.

Professionally, Shane has worked with young children with disabilities for more than twenty years and currently serves as an Inclusion Specialist at University of Washington. She also brings valuable board leadership experience, having started and grown her own business, and served as VP of Stephen’s House/BI Special Needs Foundation board.

What is your biggest wish for West Sound Soccer Academy?

“I look forward to supporting a future generation of female athletes, fostering not only their ball skills, but more importantly their confidence, commitment, and leadership abilities both on and off the field. With a focus on inclusivity and intentionality, West Sound Soccer Academy provides a supportive environment where girls can thrive and develop a lifelong love for the game.” – Shane
