2013s win at Crossfire!

Congratulations to the 2013s for taking 1st place in the gold division at the 2025 Crossfire Tournament! Similar to their win at Skagit in June, their final gritty match of the tournament ended in a shootout. Extra congrats to the 13s and their head coach, Lexi and assistant coach Megan, for being the first WSSA team to win back-to-back tournaments! We asked Lexi and Megan what they would attribute such an impressive accomplishment to below.

Lexi: Honestly, it’s a combination of grit, heart, and relentless work. This team doesn’t give up – ever. They show up for each other in the tough moments and find a way to push through. On top of that, we’ve been fine-tuning our set pieces and introducing new formations so we can adapt based on the opposition. It’s been really rewarding to see the players grow their soccer IQ and learn how to read the game, adjust in real time, and support each other no matter what. That resilience and adaptability have made all the difference.

Megan: I’m so proud of these kids and what they’ve accomplished. Winning back-to-back tournaments doesn’t happen by accident, it comes from grit, determination, and resilience. These players showed up every day ready to work hard, bounce back from mistakes, and support each other no matter what. They’ve learned how to keep going even when things get tough, and that’s something special at this age. Most importantly, they trust each other. They believe in their teammates, they encourage one another, and they play like a true team. That kind of support and teamwork is what really made the difference. It’s been amazing to watch them grow, not just as athletes, but as people!
